Analyzing samples in connection with cardiovascular diseases comprises determining the concentration of at least one inflammation marker selected from fibrinogen, soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-2 (sTNFR-2), interleukin-18, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), caspase-1, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1), resistin and soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1), and comparing the results with reference data.
