The motor has a stator arrangement fixed with respect to a base plate (1), and a shaft (4) rotatably supported by a bearing system in a bearing component. A hub (5) is arranged on the shaft in a press fit manner and connected with the shaft by a welded connection. The shaft has a middle hole to accommodate a screw for fixing a magnetic disk by a clamping device. A contact surface is provided in the upper end of the shaft for the hub. An independent claim is also included for a method of connecting a hub with the shaft of a spindle motor.
