Onboard units in vehicles determine the vehicle position and transmit it by radio, together with further information, to a central station. The destination and current position of the vehicle are transmitted to the central station. The central station calculates the route and charge for the use of the designated roads, and transmits them to the vehicle for display. The driver of the vehicle can then accept the route and charge or request an alternative calculation.
