The breast shield (121) is urged against a breast while the other hand squeezes the handle (19). The links (181,182) straighten to lift the sliding member along the grooves (134) and lift the piston (15) with respect to the cylinder (14). This creates a vacuum which is communicated to the funnel (12) for drawing milk from the breast. Milk flows through the cap and seal lip and drops to the blocked valve for temporary storage. When handle is released, links pivot toward each other to move the sliding members and the pivot to exert force to open the valve for dropping the milk into the bottle.
