A gun for use by artillery, navy or air force applications, has a barrel (10) with a sleeve-fit extension (18) fitted to the muzzle (16). The interface between the extension and muzzle is covered by a sleeve (22) incorporating a blind hole (24) tolerance fit. The gun muzzle outer diameter is wider than the barrel (12) forming an anchorage for the sleeve. The sleeve has an inner thread that engages with an outer thread on the push-fit extension.
