The system has a controlling and/or regulating unit (2) formed with two interfaces and two movably designed power supply units (8, 10). The unit (2) is brought into electrical signal connection with respective power supply units via the interfaces. The unit (2) has a control source for controlling a drive, and mechanisms with a detection unit, which detects charge state and/or capacity state of each power supply unit. An independent claim is also included for a gate drive system for a sectional gate, swing gate or horizontal or vertical folding gate.
