The vehicle has an image sensor (4) for detection of the environment of the vehicle. The image sensor has a photoactive surface that is arranged parallel to a vehicle body shell. An optical unit (6) e.g. prism or mirror system, is provided for deflection of ray, so that the monitoring direction (1) of the vehicle environment and the normal of the photoactive surface of the sensor include an angle alpha , where the angle alpha ranges between +45 and +90 degrees as well as between -45 and -90 degrees. The monitoring direction and the normal of the surface are perpendicular to each other.
