The engine has a cylinder crankcase, and a coolant pump (1) with suction and pressure sides (3, 2), which are in flow connection with coolant outlet and inlet (6, 5), respectively. The pump is arranged between the coolant outlet and a coolant recirculation pipe (7), and the outlet is downstream to the recirculation pipe. The pump is partially integrated in a region of a cylinder head and/or crankcase turned away from a radiator fan.
