An airbag module (1) has a module housing (2) which can include an airbag (4) inflatable by a gas generator (3) for the protection of an occupant of means of transport. It has a ventilating device (5) which has an effective cross-section opening (18) through which the absorption of the airbags is fixed in case of impact of the occupant on the inflated airbag. The ventilating device is formed in such a way that the effective cross-section opening is variably adjusted with the adjustment of an airbag module to obtain the required absorption.
