Apparatus for treating samples for analysis comprises: (A) a first substrate which forms a complex with a structure in the sample; (B) a system for liberating a biological molecule in the structure; (C) a second substrate which forms a complex with the molecule; and (D) a system producing a magnetic field which moves the two substrates. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for treating samples for analysis using the apparatus which comprises binding the structure to the first substrate, moving the product using the magnetic field, liberating biological molecules for the structure complex and forming a complex from it with the second substrate; and (2) a method for analyzing samples comprising treating them using the method and identifying the molecules.
