The buckle (10) is made of a rectangular sheet of metal folded along a transversal line in order to create a frame (11) with two layers (12). The belt (14) is guided through openings (13) provided at both layers (12). A locking unit (15) assembled of two elements (17) is positioned between the layers (12). A first element is provided with a pin guided in an angular slot located at the other element (17) which is preloaded with a spring. The locking unit (15) can be released with a lever or a rope (18) pulling at the second element (17) and operated from outside the buckle (10).
