The method involves calculating a momentary load output corresponding to an output voltage, an output current and a power factor of an electric motor driver. A momentary total output is calculated by adding an internal power of the motor driver to the load output. The total output is multiplied with an operating period of the motor driver and a rate from a schedule to receive the rate for electrical energy consumption. An independent claim is also included for a system for calculating rate of electrical energy consumption in an electrical motor driver.
