The device has a oil tank (1) with supply and return pipes, where the lubrication oil is supplied from the tank via the supply pipe to bearings and flows back into the tank via the return pipe. The return pipe is connected to an upstream pipe (3) below an oil level (5) in the tank. An overflow pipe (6) is attached to an upper end area of the upstream pipe and is closed above the oil level in the tank. A capacitive sensor (4) is arranged in the upper end area for detecting presence of oil.
