The method involves testing the validity of the signature in an electronic document and adding a testing protocol to a data packet. An identifier is generated for the data packet and the packet is transmitted to a data archive. A transceiver (8) transfers the digital document, the identifier and a reference of the data archive. The transceiver then refers the data packet from the data archive based on the indication of the identifier : An independent claim is also included for a server structure for testing the signature in an open network.
