The plant (10) for surface treatment of workpieces in pretreatment plants and/or treatment plants, especially for surface treatment of bodies or body parts (12) of vehicles, provides for a protective coating to be applied to the plant components (14) in contact with the treating medium (16), wherein the protective coating is a withdrawable coating which deflects the respective medium. The components which have the protective coating are the transporting systems and their components which are required for guiding through of the bodies or body parts.
