The thermostat cartridge, with a thermostatic working element (5), for locating in a mixing chamber (3), and a valve element (8), has an abutment (9) which is designed for an arrangement of a return spring (10) in an extension of the working element in its center longitudinal axis (11). The abutment is formed for a location of the return spring basically outside the mixing chamber. The valve element encompasses the working element at least basically coaxially. An independent claim is included for a thermostatic valve with the aforesaid thermostat cartridge.
