The injector has a drive piston (10) in effective connection with an piezoactuator (60). The drive piston impresses a fluid pressure at a pressure area via a hydraulic workspace of a nozzle needle piston (22) actuating a nozzle needle. The nozzle needle piston is relocatably guided into the drive piston, and has an operating space that bounds its free end in the drive piston. The operating space (30) stands in fluid communication with an operating space (40) via a fluid throttle (52). The fluid throttle is provided in the space (30) so that the fluid pressure builds in the space (30). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a fuel injection system such as common rail injection system, for a passenger car, comprising a fuel injector (2) an engine such as diesel engine, for a motor vehicle, comprising a fuel injection system.
