Preparation of catalyst mold containing multi-element oxide as active mass comprises molding a fine particulate precursor mixture containing an additive to desired geometry and thermally treating the obtained catalyst precursor mold at high temperature, where the fine particulate precursor mixture contains boron nitride as mold additive. Independent claims are included for: (1) a catalyst molded article obtained by the process; and (2) a gas phase reaction method using the catalyst molded article.
