The carrier member, for a vehicle bodywork, is composed of at least two part-shells (12,14) fitted together as a box profile (10). The interior is reinforced by a profile (24) of at least two reinforcement shells (26,28) bonded to the two part-shells. The reinforcement shells are fitted before the box profile is assembled and the bonding sections (38,40) are bonded together by an adhesive or welding as the box profile is assembled or after.
