The unit (1) has a card reader (1.1) for acquitting the data for vehicle guidance authentication. A communication mechanism uses the vehicle-specific information for determining the road toll while driving on a turnpike road. A driver-specific information is used for determining the steering period of the vehicle user, during the operation of the vehicle. The vehicle specific information and/or the identification data can be fed to the electronic unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a toll acquiring system for determining the road toll (2) use of a toll acquisition system for monitoring and controlling the steering period of the driver (3) a method for monitoring and controlling the steering period of the driver.
