Hinge mechanism for airplane door, kinematically coordinates two shifting rockers and two swiveling rockers together so that door is first shifted upward from closed position and then tilted about axis orthogonal to shift direction
A hinge mechanism (4) has two shifting rockers (7,8) kinematically linked to an airplane door (2), and two swiveling rockers (9,10) kinematically coupled to the shifting rockers via connecting rockers (11,12). In operation, the both rockers are cooperated kinematically and manipulated to first shift the airplane door upward relative to the fuselage from a closed position, and then tilt the door forward and down to a final position and relative to the axis perpendicular to the shift direction. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an airplane door; an airplane fuselage; and (2) a method of using a hinge mechanism.
