The method involves producing two x-ray images (48a, 48b) of patients with a biopsy needle (22) from different viewable directions in a relative position to a three dimensional-image data (40) by an x-ray-C-arc (32) while placing the needle. The needle, tumor (12) and kidney (14) are assigned with each other based on the relative position and the data. The needle, tumor and kidney are displayed in artificial x-ray images. An independent claim is also included for a device for displaying a surgical instrument being placed in a patient during treatment.
