The horizontal isotropic ultra broadband antenna has a thickened monopole provided as a resonator and an amplifier, which amplifies the output signal of the monopole to a processable level. The length of the monopole is selected so that its resonance range lies above a specified frequency range of the antenna and is selected so that that resulting thickness provides a moderate adjusted rise to the peak of its resonance range into for instance and a reduction of amplification of an appropriate amplifier.
