The machine has a rotor (5) that comprises several areas (6) with respect to its cross-section, where the areas have respective string-shaped or arch-shaped slots (7) that run parallel to each other. Each slot is arranged in the rotor with respect to grooves (2) that lie between teeth of a stator, such that an end side of each slot is opposite to the groove of the stator, while the other side of the slot is opposite to the teeth (3) of the stator. Permanent magnets are provided in a middle area of the slots. An air gap is formed between the stator and the rotor.
