The device has a user-specific data set, which contains a personal user profile (1.1) of a user and is stored in a memory of a vehicle internal central processing unit and/or in a portable memory unit (2). The user is identified based on personal identification, and a vehicle internal function and/or device is user-specifically and automatically configured by using the personal user profile. A part of the user specific data set is encoded and is decoded only after successful identification of the user, which effects by using the personal identification. An independent claim is also included for a method for user-specific adjusting a vehicle internal function and/or device.
