The monument has a base body, and an assembly (1) modularly attached to the body. The assembly has a detachable module (9) and fastening units (10) to fasten the body at corresponding fastening units of an aircraft surface. The module includes an advertising medium, and the body is fastened at a preset position of the surface. Door units are modularly attached to the assembly. A service unit e.g. magazine or newspaper-vending machine, soft drinks vending machine, internet desk, ticket vending machine, and snacks or fast-food vending machine, is attached at a mounting surface of the assembly. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a monument for an aircraft.
