The device has a transfer cylinder that rolls on a form cylinder (10), and a set of printing plates (11) stretchable on the form cylinder in an axial direction. A printing plate changing device is assigned to the form cylinder to automatically exchange the printing plates. The changing device comprises an operating head (12), which is displaceable translatory along the form cylinder, for releasing/fixing or unlocking/locking the printing plates at the form cylinders. A replacement cartridge (15) is displaceable along the form cylinder (10), and is provided for holding new/old printing plates.
