The barrier has a light transmitter arranged at a side of a monitoring area and a light receiver (4) arranged at an end of the same side. A reflector arranged at other side of the area changes a polarization condition of the light during reflection. Lenses (1, 2), front plate (7), front plate parts (7a, 7b) and polarization filters (11, 12) are arranged both between the light transmitter, the reflector and the light receiver. The filters are injection molded at its edges with a transparent material e.g. plastic, which forms the lens, front plate and front plate parts.
