The retainer (1) has a support surface (5), which rests on a lower tile (3). A clamp (8) projects upwards from the surface. A retaining lug (6) projects upwards from a side of the surface against the clamp, to engage behind a cross rib (12) which points below the end of an upper tile (4). The retainer in an area of the support surface is narrower than the retainer in the area of the lug.
