The method involves providing a variable dynamic factor, which is used during each learning cycle of the release condition and learning step size. Correction of a measuring value of a control unit is limited by a maximum allowable learning step size. The dynamic factor is provided depending on relevant boundary conditions for the measuring value. The dynamic factor is varied according to the measures of time elapsed since the start of the correcting process.
