Joining together two plastic parts (K1, K2) by laser welding, where the parts transmit laser radiation, comprises placing a laser-absorbing material (S) at the interface (F) between the parts and heating the material with laser radiation (L) so that adjacent layers of plastic are melted and bonded to the material and/or to each other. An independent claim is also included for a car key comprising two plastic half-shells welded together as above.
