A rotary electric machine operating at a low rated voltage of 100V has a housing (1) for at least one current-carrying element (2) for the supply- and/or electrical out-going power cables. A device for protecting the connection between the cable (12) and the current-carrying element (2) from moisture is provided. The protection device (16) is designed as a flexible sleeve (16) with a sealed first aperture (17) for the cable (12) and the sealed second aperture (18) for enclosing the current-carrying element (2). An independent claim is included for a method for fabricating a rotary electric machine.
