Profile rail for a motor vehicle, as protection against side impact collisions, has a W-shaped carrier of a high tensile steel and a closing plate over the hollows of a soft steel
The profile rail (1), for protection at a vehicle against a side impact collision, has an open hollow profile carrier (2), with a W-shaped cross section, with a plate (3) to close the hollow zones. The hollow profile carrier is of a high tensile steel and the closing plate is of a soft steel. The closing plate has longitudinal beading (5) and is bonded to the flanges (4) of the carrier by local welds.
