The cryocatheter (2) includes: a catheter sheath (4); a catheter inner (14) surrounded by the catheter sheath; a catheter tip (8) arranged at a distal end of the cryocatheter; a feed line (15) arranged in the catheter sheath that feeds an expansion and cooling agent; a balloon (10) arranged near the catheter tip that is expanded by the expansion and cooling agent; an imaging sensor (16) located near the catheter tip; and an image capture device comprising the imaging sensor that maps a region of the vessel around the balloon. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a cryocatheter in a medical procedure.
