Use of long chain azo dye (I) as blotter for fluorescent-based detection reactions. Use of long chain azo dye of formula (I) as blotter for fluorescent-based detection reactions. Either R, R1-R5 : H, Cl, Br, I, alkyl, (hetero)aryl, (hetero)cycloalkyl, alkyloxy, alkylmercapto, (hetero)aryloxy, (hetero)arylmercapto, NO2, carboxylic acid, carboxylic acidester, carboxylic acid amide, trifluoromethyl, trifluoroacetyl, tricyanovinyl, cyano, OH, substituted alkyl, cyclic amino functional group, solubilizing, ionizable or ionized substituents such as SO3-, PO32-, CO2-, O-, NR3+, cyclodextrin or sugar, which determines the hydrophilic characteristics of the dye (where these substituents bonded over (hetero)aliphatic, e.g. cyclic, spacer group on the dye), reactive groups such as isocyanate, isothiocyanate, hydrazine, amine, mono- and dichloro- and/or mono- and dibromotriazine, aziridine, (meth)acrylate, vinyl, vinylsulfonyl, sulfonylhalogenide, N-hydroxysuccinimidester, imido-ester, glyoxal, aldehyde, maleimide, iodacetamide, phosphoramide (where these substituents bonded over (hetero)aliphatic, e.g. cyclic, spacer group on the dye) or (hetero)aliphatic spacer group of formula -[(CH2)a-Y1-(CH2)b]c; or R2R3, R4R5, two adjacent groups : aliphatic or aromatic rings; X : O, S, Se, Te, (CR2)n, SO2, CR2-O-, -O-CR2, -CO-O- or -O-CO-; n : 1-4; R6 : substituted (hetero)aromatic system; Y1 : C(R)2-, O-, S-, SO2, SO2NH-, NR-, COO- or CONR; a, b : 0-18; and c : 1-18.
