The locking nut or bolt (10) has an integral locking section (7) with a thread (3) of different pitch and profile to the non-locking sections (5). This increases the force required to release it. An independent claim is included for: (A) systems made up of a nut and bolt, at least one of which is a locking component as described; (B) a method for making the locking nut or bo and (C) a machine for carrying out the method.
