The endoscope (10) has an endoscope head (16) housing a proximal end of an endoscope shaft (12), and a light guide connector (18) projecting laterally from the head. An optical light guide (20) is composed of a bundle of light guiding fibers (28), and is guided in the shaft from a distal end to a proximal end of the shaft followed by a curvature (22) to the laterally extending light guide connector. The bundle of light guiding fibers is sheathed in an area of a curvature of the guide by an application of a flexible adhesive (26). An independent claim is also included for a method for preparing an endoscope.
