The device has a burner arranged in a combustion chamber, where fuel-air mixture is supplied to the burner by a flow channel (10). The mixture is burnt in the chamber and is supplied to a heat exchanger as exhaust gas. Another flow channel (10) is attached to a flow side output. A wall section with an opening (12) is formed in the channels and/or in the chamber. A helmholtz-resonator (20) is connected to the opening as a noise damping device. The resonator has a resonator chamber (21) that is formed with a controller (25) to change acoustic mass and/or volume of the resonator chamber.
