The method involves determining a brake deceleration (axm) such that other brake decelerations, which are reduced depending on a friction coefficient in comparison to a defined maximum deceleration, are predetermined during existence of actual determined friction coefficients. The brake deceleration (axm) is also determined such that a brake deceleration, which is increased with respect to the reduced decelerations, is determined during non-existence of the coefficients.
