The method involves pressing one of hot keys (21-24) of a computer system (100) during determination of the keys. A multimedia playing device driver attached to the pressed key is downloaded and implemented by a computer system according to a definition specified in device activation group tables. A multimedia-play device-application program for a CD-player, digital music device, VCD-player and TV assigned to the pressed key is loaded according to the definition in the tables. The playing device assigned to the pressed hotkey is activated, when other playing device is inactively loaded.
