The method involves acting a lane marking on an electronic controller (17) by using a sensor that is arranged in a vehicle (4). A condition, in which the lane marking is not provided, is announced to the controller by using a signal transmitter (11) and transferred into an indication signal for a driver of the vehicle, where the signal transmitter is arranged at a predetermined distance with respect to the driving route. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle assistance device for securing the road traffic.
