Aqueous coating materials containing (a) an acrylate-based binder containing 1-10 wt% hydroxyl-functional comonomer, (b) pigment(s) and (d) less than 3 wt% frost-protection agent. Coating materials (CM) containing (a) an acrylate-based binder containing 1-10 wt% hydroxyl-functional comonomer of formula A-[B] n-C (I) in which A : a polymerisable group; B : a spacer; C : a hydroxyl-functional group; n : 0 or 1 , (b) pigment(s), (c) water, (d) less than 3 wt% frost-protection agent and optionally (e) other conventional additives. An independent claim is included for latex paint containing CM components (a)-(e) as above.
