The adapter has seven ports to connect six devices e.g. cameras, and a card, which has four independent 1394-bus-controllers and is connected to a computer through a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) express interface. A trigger output (5) synchronizes an image processing device with a trigger signal generated by the card. An internal trigger interface (1) outputs the signal to synchronize another card connected to a computer.
