The device has a guide bar (16) which is provided with a solid measure (24). A test coach (18) and a guiding wagon (20) are movably supported at the guide bar. A scanning unit for scanning the solid measure, is attached to the coach. The test coach and the guiding wagon are coupled with one another in the moving direction (B) such that a table assembly (12) is supported only on the guiding wagon. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a position measuring device.
