A multilayer matte, one-side sealable, biaxially oriented polyester film with (a) a base layer, (b) a sealable cover layer on one side of (a) and (c) a matte cover layer on the other side of (a) is such that layer (b) contains less than 0.01 wt.% external particles based on its total weight; and #layer (c) contains (i) a polyester containing 6-30 mol.% of isophthalic acid based on total amount of polyester in this layer and (ii) a pigment having an average particle diameter (d50) of 2-10 mu , a particle size distribution as determined using Span 98 (RTM) of 1.2-2 and a concentration of 1.0-7.0 wt.% based on total weight of layer (c).
