The method involves converting mechanical movements detected by an oscillating sensor (BS), into an electrical signal. The occurrence, abut and attenuation of the signal is detected to detect, store and provide to a computer the time of conditions between switching an operation on and off, and/or to determine and display a duration of the on condition and the number of changes from the off into on condition. The time is detected and stored, and the duration and number are determined and display in connection with a time signal generator which provides a momentary local time. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a circuit for detecting operating hours and operating events of a system and equipment which contain mechanical components that execute movements in operation (2) a device for detecting operating hours and operating events of a system and equipment which contain mechanical components that execute movements in operation.
