The drive has a toothed belt (18) connecting a crank shaft wheel (9) with a camshaft wheel (13), such that a position of a camshaft is maintained relative to a crank shaft. An auxiliary wheel (16) is provided for a torque proof connection with a drive shaft (4) of an auxiliary unit e.g. high-pressure pump. A safety clutch (17) is provided at the auxiliary wheel, where the clutch releases the torque proof connection with the drive shaft upon exceeding a preset driving torque of the auxiliary wheel. The safety clutch is connected between the auxiliary wheel and the drive shaft.
