Twin pressure rollers (6, 7), especially at the exit of a drafting system fitted with pneumatic sliver compaction (26), are each fitted with a protective apron (12, 13). The diameter of at least one roller is less than 28 mm and the distance (C) between the axes (8, 9) is preferably 25 to 30 mm. The aprons run round spring-loaded (16, 17) turning guides (14, 15) with optional additional guides (40).
