The system has a monitoring unit that is connected to a data bus (2) by using a bus-driver (8), and a decoding unit (19) for decoding messages received by the data bus and the bus-driver. A time synchronization unit (23) is provided for synchronization of a local time of the monitoring unit. A comparator (25) is provided for determination of variations between provided transmission information and actual bus access based on the synchronized local time of the monitoring unit. An independent claim is also included for a monitoring unit connected to a data bus.
