Radio network sharing system combines portable units, sharing unit, access unit and server host using wireless- and local area network connections

The system comprises a radio network sharing unit (20) and a radio network access unit (22) connected to it by a wireless interface. A number of portable units (24) are connected wirelessly (e.g. through a local wireless- or home network) to the sharing unit (20). A server host (26) is connected by local area networks LANs to the access unit. The portable units are desktop computers, laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs) or mobile telephones. The portable units have an interface with an IEEE 1394, ethernet or USB connection socket. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of linkage.
